Harvest Voices 2021

During the last quarter of 2020, we decided to survey adult Manitobans who rely on food assistance from member food banks within our network. Our goal was to listen to their experiences about the challenges they face living with food insecurity and poverty in Manitoba, and what they would need to become economically self-sufficient.

This report is the result of these efforts. It’s a snapshot of real-world impact of food insecurity and poverty in Manitoba along with several individual experiences.

We hope the information increases your understanding and inspires you to join us as
we work toward a healthier future for all Manitobans where no one goes hungry.

Acknowledgements:
A special thank you to all Harvest Food Bank Clients who participated in our survey, to our member food banks across Manitoba for helping us reach them, and to Meaghan Erbus, Harvest Sr. Manager, Community Food Network and Advocacy, and her team of field placement students – Emelda Nnadi, Melanie Ballentyne, Stephanie Yacucha and Susadhi Dharmasiri. We appreciate your commitment, time and support developing and authoring this report.
